Autumn At Apple Hill by Angie Ellington: A Book Review

ree

Elise Jacobs is in need of a change. Recently divorced, she moves back to her hometown of Landover, Maine to run her grandparents' bed and breakfast that she inherited. She looks forward to starting anew in a place that gave her wonderful childhood memories. Once she revives the inn and opens it to guests, Elise meets Luke Donovan, handsome and wealthy, he comes from New York City, also looking for a fresh start. The two exchange playful banter in this small town, opposites attract, second chance, Hallmark-vibe romance.

The Review:

This is a short story and a light read perfect for anyone who is looking for that. Also, if you're in the mood for an Autumn-themed romance, this story is it. A nice cozy read that'll be enjoyable for chilly nights while reading by the fireplace. The story is narrated, or told in the third person, rather than coming from Elise's or Luke's point of view. For that reason, the emotions of the two main characters are hard to gauge, which would have made it more personal. This is a clean romance or a romantic comedy, at least that is what it is billed as. Truthfully though, it feels as though the comedy part was lacking. The ending is a happy one and the epilogue wraps everything up nicely. Overall, I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars.
